R is for...

R is for...
Rylee and Rocky Mountain Highschool Track!

Rylee and her team worked hard this season. They were invited to a banquet where they were recognized and received their letter. At least that was what was supposed to happen. The coach had made an error and forgot to publicly recognize the freshman... but they still got their letters.

Paige, Melissa, Matt, Alexis & Rylee

Way to go Rylee!

Cross Country Districts 2010

Yep, it's that time of year again... Cross Country Districts.

These girls were all smiles BEFORE the race.

Paige Simpson, Sarah Bruneel, Rylee, Alexis Patten, Kirsten Forester & Melissa Brown

I estimated that Rylee finished in the first 1/3 of the pack.
She said she came in 60th out of 200+ girls.

She ran 1 1/2 miles in 10mins 33 secs.
I have no idea what a "good" time is, but it would be a VERY good time for me! :)

I'm proud of how Rylee improved her position and time each race. She said she FINALLY experienced what it meant to "hit your stride". Her goal was to not stop and keep her friend Melissa in sight.... she accomplished both.

Way to go Rylee!!!

Districts

This week was Rylee's last cross-country meet of the season... districts. All the Meridian Middle Schools met at a local park for the race.
There were 100's of people there!

Rylee came in around 60th out of 250 girls.

Blayke is a member of one of the opposing teams.
A very friendly rival. :)

Way to go girls!
I'm quite impressed and very proud of you.

Run Like the Wind!

Rylee's part of the Heritage Cross Country team, this year.
Allie, Rylee, Lessa & Laura.
They had their first meet this week. Cross country is quite a bit different than track... one race and it's over. They run 1 1/2 miles, "cross country", like not on the track the whole time (duh!). Some school's even have hills and berms they might have to race over.
It was a very HOT day. I was proud of ALL of them (even the opposing team) for running in that type of heat. Yuck!
In the first half of the race Rylee was consistantly in the 4th to 6th place (out of about 50 girls). Then towards the end the heat got the best of her and she dropped back a little.

Her final placement was 12th.
Way to go Rylee!

"Where's my water bottle?! I need water!"

Rylee, you amaze me and impress me with your "go for it" attitude. Good job.
