Staycation
Jason wanted to do some type of get-a-way, before the kids went back to school. As we were brainstorming ideas of where to go; we first thought of camping... nah, too much work. Then we thought of going to a little town close by... Mountain Home? What's there to do in Mountain Home? Finally, we decided to go to somewhere close... VERY close... Northeast Boise!
We thought it would be fun to show the kids a part of town, they weren't familiar with. I grew up in the East end of Boise and Jason lived there, when we first met. We were excited to show them around our old "stomping grounds". I LOVED the short, sweet drive! Ahhhhh, my idea of traveling.
Sunday evening, we checked into our hotel. After a quick survey of our facility, we noticed how close we were to the Boise River Greenbelt. We were enticed by it's natural beauty and decided to take a little walk.
Our first stop, was at the river's edge to throw a few rocks and admire all the water skipper bugs. --The aroma of cottonwood trees brought back childhood memories, teenage good times and BSU classes, on the Boise River. I kept saying to the kids, "Can you smell that? That's cottonwood." They probably could have cared less. (Doesn't that sound just like a parent? Giving out random information, that kids don't care about. Showing my age I suppose.)

More Birthday Fun
Suprise!
Last Saturday, we had a surprise birthday party for Jason's mom.
Background: Mom had been wanting to go to a well-known quilt/fabric shop in Burley, ID. Cathy and Melissa (Jason's sisters) offered to take her on a birthday road trip, from Ogden, UT to the Burley, ID area, for a "Shop Hop".
The set up: Friday, her birthday was celebrated as usual; lunch with friends, dinner with family, presents opened, birthday calls received. We hoped she had no suspicion as to what we were up to.
On the tables, we had decorated with items associated with events and stories of her life. At one point, in the evening, we asked her to tell us some of those stories. As she held her wedding dress up to her, she made some sort of comment about how it USED to fit. Bob piped up, "Grandma, did you wear that BEFORE you liked chocolate?!" Monday, August 17, 2009
A Sewing Swap

PS- I notice it works better if you click on the link, rather than the button. The button takes you to the post..but with comments. The link takes you to the blog and you have to scroll down to find the post. You want to be able to post under the Only U.S. or International, which ever you want to be a part of.
Ison Family Reunion 2009
Some of my highlights at the Ison Family Reunion:
5. The raffle. There were many cute, useful, and fun items entered. Taylee and Rylee both won a ride on the Harley with Wade. Soooo cool. Taylee beamed for the rest of the night.

I Got Mail!!!
A gratitude mini album with stickers and embellishments.
-It has places to journal, places for photos and even a little "pocket" to put a little something special in. Too cute!
Another mini album, created and personalized, with Treyson's recent baptism in mind.
-It has places to write dates, facts, notes from family and friends and pages for photos. So cool!
A decoupaged clipboard with cute lists to use.
-Lists for projects to do and grocery shopping to be done. So useful!
A workout DVD "30 Day Shred" by Jillian Michaels.
-I've been working hard at running/walking, but have recently felt that I needed a little something else...this should do the trick! So needed!
A jar filled with "Conversation Starters", to use at the dinner table or otherwise.
-I can't wait to try these out on my family. I like the idea of meaningful conversation at dinner. So excited!
A "Real Simple" magazine, a heat resistant spatula, "Lehi Mills" blueberry pancake mix and several yummy recipes.
-My kids are especially excited about the blueberry pancake mix and new recipes. I'm sure the pancake mix won't stay long in it's cute bag...it will be dinner/breakfast soon. So yummy!
A "Family" picture frame.
-This will go right along with my love of photos. My kids informed me that I needed to get a photo in there right away, because it matched our other family photo frames. So nice!
