"This is Rylee.
She is a 6th grade student at Heritage Middle School.
She enjoys watching Utah Jazz basketball with her dad.
She likes to shop and is a a "Shoe Fanatic"!
Rylee is learning the art of finding a good bargain. We love thrift stores, yard sales and clearance rack shopping.
Today, she is wearing dark blue jeans with a salmon colored t-shirt. She also has on a dark blue denim jacket and flip flops. What's more comfortable and casual than that?
Rylee's WHOLE outfit, including the denim jacket, cost LESS than $2!"
This morning, we went to a Young Women's Standards Breakfast. They served quiche, homemade cinnamon rolls, fruit kabobs, juice and milk. Yummy!
Then we had a wonderful and inspiring talk by Sister Nye. She shared with us about her experience of going on the "Today Show". She got to be one of the people to participate in the "Ambush Makeover". She had a feeling that some questions might be raised about her wearing garments. She made a choice, before getting there, what she might say or do if that situation arose. It did. She told them that she was LDS, that her wearing them was a religious choice and that if all possible, she would like an outfit that would let her wear them properly and appropriately. No problem. They worked with her and made her over beautifully. The important point was that she had made a choice before hand. She had "drawn a line in the sand" and decided not to cross it. She encouraged all the girls to make choices, right now about their standards, about their modesty and about how they would behave in the future. She was fun to listen to and did a wonderful job.

What a great sample story of making a decision ahead of time.

I can not believe how big and grown up she is! How did you let that happen? Looks like it was a fun morning, with a good message.

What a great activity. I am impressed with the price of the outfit. What beautiful examples of modest dress.
