Green Milk!

St. Patrick's Day eve, Abree came down to my room at bedtime and said, "Mom, we've got to put milk out, so the leprechaun can turn it GREEN!"

Where did she get this idea? She must have heard about it from school. It has never been a tradition here before.

Initially I thought about turning her down, but then decided what the heck, it's a pretty simple request.
She was SO excited the next morning, when the milk had actually been turned GREEN.
The rest of the kids asked, "Why do we have green milk on our counter? Isn't it going to get rotten?"
I guess they didn't share in the magic or thrill of green milk. :)
Later that day, Taylee brought me this and said, "Happy St. Patrick's Day. Mom!"
Isn't he cute?!
I LOVE his freckles and pointed ears.

Lucky

Having one banner under my belt, I thought I'd try another... one for St. Patrick's Day. My idea was good, but my execution wasn't great. I don't LOVE how this one turned out.

In fact, I believe less in LUCK and more in being BLESSED.

I may try another banner for Easter or Spring.
Stay tuned......

PS- My friend Keri and I were asked to make a banner for a wedding luncheon (after a lady in our ward saw our birthday banner). That will probably be the next banner I attempt.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day at pre-school.As the girls arrived, they painted these pots. It was messy, but a whole lot of fun too. I think the result was well worth some paint on the bathroom sink. What do you think?
Oh no, I'm starting to rhyme like Dr. Seuss.
A pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

As a young girl, I truly believed that there was gold at the end of the rainbow. Our family would sometimes take Sunday drives to try and find that ever elusive end. We never did find it.... that darn rainbow kept moving away from us. Next, we talked about what it meant to be lucky. I gave each girl a lucky penny. They made a wish on their lucky penny and hoped it would come true.

One of our focus areas this month, has been on exercise. It was a nice enough day that we all went outside to play an exercise game. Each girl took turns drawing a card and then we all did what it said. This proved to be a great way to get some of their energy out. Maybe this needs to become a regular part of pre-school. :)

We had Lucky Charms for snack.

As we were eating, Andi swore she caught a glimpse of a naughty Leprechaun. The girls got excited and had all sorts of questions. I had never seen a REAL leprechaun, so I couldn't answer their questions. I turned them over to Andi.... the expert.

I had big plans for these bags-o-green-fun. I wanted to plan a treasure hunt, with X marking the spot. (We were talking about X this week.) But... too many ideas, with too little time. I ended up just sending them home with the girls as a St. Patrick's Day surprise.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
