Teacher Appreciation Week

I appreciate school teachers.

For "Teacher Appreciation Week" I made this for Abree's 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Palmerton.
Ok, so there wasn't much to "making" it. I painted the frame, printed the saying and put the saying in the frame. It's the thought that counts, right?

I had Abree make her a card too. "Mrs. Palmerton I like you because..."
Wonder if it's true? Do teachers feel this way about their students? I think Mrs. Palmerton does. :)

I've recently read a few articles/comments from real teachers about what they REALLY want/like for gifts. The most common wanted item was gift cards. The teachers reassured the readers over and over, that it's not too impersonal and they would take a gift card over an apple ANYTHING..any day. A close second, or maybe a tie for first, was a personal thank-you card from a student or parent.

So I partially followed the advice of the article. :)

An Apple for the Teacher

I had seen some cute apple cookie lollipops circulating the internet and decided I wanted to make some. My first idea was to do it for the kid's teachers for the first day of school. I didn't purchase the supplies until the middle of the school week, so they became a "Thanks for a good first week of school and looking forward to a great year" gift.

You can't tell here, but the lollipop part wasn't working. The stick was too big for the cookies to stay together. They kept falling apart as I was trying to dip them. I gave up on the lollipop idea and resorted to just dipping them as a cookie.

I think they turned out cute.

This is the kind of "apple" I'd want to receive as a teacher. :)

Teacher Appreciation

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week at our schools. Here are some of the

Thank You's we gave to our teachers.

Chocolate inside! :)

These green mesh bags may seem like a weird gift, but they are actually very useful. I have several sets. I've used them a lot when traveling. I put my toiletries, hairdryer, flat iron, medications in one, so they stay all together in my suitcase. I've used them to pack our travel snacks in...easy to see, but contained. I've also used them to put the kids clothes in, so they stayed sorted and together in their suitcase. Some other uses... wet swimming gear, beach toys, camping mess kit storage, paper dining picnic supplies and more.

What would you use them for? :)

Happy Birthday Mrs. Matthews!

Yesterday, was my first day to volunteer in Abree's kindergarten class. I helped kids with an alphabet exercise, played color/shape BINGO, traced and cut shapes for homework and helped them to finish up their "I Am Special" book.

While I was there, I found out that Mrs. Matthew's birthday was on Saturday. She said she planned on spending the WHOLE day, at Boise State (ESPN Game Day, tailgating and game).

Inspired by the kid's, Abree and I made Mrs. Matthews a BSU rock and card.

"Dear Mrs. Matthews,

You are a great teacher. You have fun activities. Hope you have a great birthday.

Love, Abree

PS-Have fun at the BSU game."

Teacher Appreciation Week

In appreciation of my kid's teachers, I made these.
I love gifts that are cute AND useful.
I wrapped them in a brown lunch bag and stapled these tags to the outside.
We LOVE our teachers!!!
